Several weeks ago I sent out a post entitled: “Draft Cards Link Father and Son and Tell of Divergent Wars…” in which I wrote about a meeting with one of my interview subjects, Guy Sussman. He told me of the discovery of his father’s draft card in his wallet some 45 years after the end of World War II, an indisputable indicator of the significance the war continued to have in his life. Guy contrasted this sense of connection his father felt with his own desire to completely separate himself from what his draft card signified in his own life.
